Swimming Pool Care Tips

Posted on

Swimming pools are essential installations in many homes. They allow people to cool themselves when the heat inside their houses is unbearable. With this enjoyment, however, come concerns about pool hygiene, especially if you have children who usually have sensitive skin. Therefore, the water quality in your home's indoor swimming pool should be kept clean to keep harmful germs that cause disease and infections away. Here are some essential tips to help keep your swimming pool in topnotch shape as regards hygiene.

Avoid diarrhoeal accidents in your pool.

Anybody who has been diagnosed with diarrhoea must not enter the swimming pool until a period of 14 days after the condition has stopped. There is good reason for this. If, for example, there is a kiddie poo incident in the pool area, germs will spread in the water, making it necessary for everyone to leave the pool. Nobody should be allowed back inside the pool until it is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. This often entails taking the poo out using a fine mesh scoop and then disposing of it in a hygienic way. The scoop should also be cleaned and disinfected after being used.

Treat your pool.

Make arrangements for your swimming pool to be cleaned with germ-killing chemicals, depending, of course, on how regularly it is used or contaminated. Make sure that the chemicals added to the water in the pool is of the right pH level to allow their disinfecting properties to work against the germs and not the swimmers. If there is excessive chemical products in your pool, it might cause skin and eye irritation.

It may take a while for the chemicals to work effectively but they will eventually kill the germs present in your pool. When used correctly and in sufficient amounts chlorine can help to effectively clean your swimming pool.

Ensure constant pool water flow.

Countless numbers of tiny microscopic foliage in the form of algae can be driven into your pool water by strong winds or rainwater. Leaving it unattended can cause lots of problems including clogged filters, poor water circulation and decreased effectiveness of disinfecting chemicals. An effective way to prevent algae from taking charge of your pool is to keep the water moving at all times.

Algae tends to begin invading pools when water stagnates, which explains why it is a smart move to always run your pool pump continuously. You can install a modern, efficient variable speed pump, which will allow for constant water flow without soaring up your energy bills exorbitantly.
